Norwood Clean Up Day
On Sunday, April 22, Subaru of New England and Progress Norwood teamed up to present Norwood Earth Day Clean Up and Celebration! In honor of preserving the environment in which they live and work, a dedicated group of 229 volunteers showed up prepared to beautify 11 sites in Norwood. Our SNE employees and their children had the opportunity to clean up a portion of Route 1, the state highway adjacent to our office. By the end of the afternoon, 168 bags of trash were collected! Of this amount, our SNE team contributed 23 bags.
Following the clean up, there was a lively Earth Day Celebration on the Norwood Town Common, with food for the volunteers, music, recycling stations, a bike swap, crafts for children, and many earth friendly organizations. Subaru of New England also had a tent set up. This was a great opportunity for us to provide information on our Loves the Earth recycling collaboration with TerraCycle, hand out sunflower seeds to plant, and inform people on our LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum facility.
All in all, it was an eventful day! It is amazing to see the difference made in our local community in just one day. We are already looking forward to next year!
